Custom Cedar & Aluminum Pergolas for Norfolk & Oxford County

Freestanding and attached pergolas that turn a flat yard or deck into an actual outdoor room — engineered footings, real beam spans, and detailing that ages into character instead of failure.

Pergolas by Norfolk County Construction

What's included

  • Cedar, pressure-treated, and aluminum builds
  • Freestanding or attached to home/deck
  • Engineered footings below frost line
  • Optional louvered roofs and lighting

Sized to span properly, not sag in year two

Most pergola problems come from undersized beams and rafters that look right on the drawing and start sagging the first wet July. We size beams to actual span tables, double up where loads call for it, and through-bolt every connection — so the pergola still reads as square and level long after the cedar weathers grey.

Cedar, pressure-treated, or aluminum

Western red cedar for the classic look that ages beautifully. Pressure-treated when budget matters and the structure will be painted. Aluminum for low-maintenance modern builds, often with motorized louvered roofs that close in a sudden Lake Erie storm.

Freestanding, attached, or integrated into a deck build

We build pergolas on existing patios, integrated into new deck framing, or freestanding over a flagstone or concrete pad. Attached units get properly flashed ledgers; freestanding units get Sonotube footings below frost line — no surface-mounted post bases that twist out by year three.

Lighting, screens, and louvered roof packages

Low-voltage LED runs in the beams, motorized retractable shade screens, ceiling fans wired through hidden conduit, and full louvered roof systems that go from open sky to weatherproof in seconds. We pull electrical permits and coordinate the licensed work so the finished result is clean and code-compliant.
